Best Portuguese still wine in show, with 96 points. Grande Reserva Red 2019.

The 2019 vintage of Quinta Vale d’Aldeia wine scored 96 points in the International Wine Challenge 2022, which is equivalent to the Gold Medal. “Quinta Vale D’Aldeia Grande Reserva Tinto was born from the will to create a wine of excellence, creative and that reveals all the authenticity of the Upper Douro terroir and the high altitude vineyards,” explains José Reverendo Conceição.

 

The tasting note of the IWC 2022 that gave Quinta Vale D’Aldeia Grande Reserva Tinto 2019 the Gold Medal states: “Sumptuous, powerful Douro red with well structured fruit, liquorice and tar aromas. Grippy but well integrated tannins with a core of blackberry, black fig, spice and minerality.”.

From the several wines in tasting, it stands out among Portugal’s oldest region (Douro) with 96 points, it was the best non-fortified wine in competition in the 2022 edition.
